NRL22X Burn a Brick 2023

Overview
We spent this past weekend in Price, Utah, at the North Springs Shooting Facility, where Paul Dallin put on the first ever, back-to-back NRL22X matches in one weekend.

As the name suggests, the round count for the weekend was an entire brick(500rds) of ammo. With a very challenging course of fire, a high round count, and switchy winds made it challenging all weekend, but still a bunch of fun.

We also had the pleasure of squading with a few members of Team USA - USPRA Rimfire.
Justin Carbone - Open Division
Boyd Linder - Factory Divison
Lynn Bigelow - Senior Division
Ruth Soucie - Lady Division

What makes this match special
We’ve been looking forward to this match ever since we heard about it.
Rimfire matches are always fun, but what makes them special is the ability to do things you wouldn’t normally be able to do with a centerfire due to two main factors:
1. much lower recoil
2. way less barrel heat with high round counts

However, most rimfire matches follow the same general stage format as their center fire counter parts, just with targets at closer distances.
8-12 rounds
90-120 seconds
2-5 targets

For this match, the typical stage format was:
18-30 rounds
150-165 seconds
10-20 targets

What this means is, lots of shooting, lots of mag changes, lots of transitions and dialing, and even more fun.

Hopefully this is what the future of NRL22X/PRS22 will be, because it makes the rimfire section of this sport really come into it’s own, rather than being the slower younger brother to centerfire.
